I love puppy socialization class.

Puppy1

I try to answer questions during class, and hold semi-intelligent conversations with the people, but I invariably trail off and stare at the pups with my mouth hanging open. The cuteness! That said, there is a ref aspect to my role at class. Play can tip to tussle in an instant, especially as the session wears on, so I need to be ready to step in.

The attitudes in this class run the gamut from Harrison’s “I’m king of the world!” perspective …

… to Zoe’s “What fresh hell is this?”

Young Duncan was slightly more outgoing at our second class … he opted to stand on the ground (instead of in his person’s lap), and allowed sweet Holly to check him out:

I love this interlude between Stormy and Morgan … Stormy’s goofiness didn’t impress Morgan at all.

Our final session is this Saturday. Perhaps Duncan and Zoe will join the fray next time?

How did I just instinctively KNOW that Harrison would be the King-of-the-World type puppy? He reminds me of a certain German shepherd girl at that age who bulldozer-ed her way through your Yappy Hour at Dogma in Arlington, Virginia.

“Where’s Athena?”
“Over there” (proud owner points at fluffy wrecking ball, running with a pack of male hooligans circling the store like race cars).

That was the same night she escaped from Dogma and sprinted to the Starbucks next door. I caught her as she was jumping up on startled patrons who were sitting at tables minding their own business, sipping burning-hot drinks. Ah… thank you adorable Harrison for reminding me of that night. You RULE!

Wow! The cuteness is almost unbearable. Almost.

I remember that night at Dogma, a long, long time ago! (Wasn’t it a Valentine’s Day Yappy Hour?)

Almost indeed, JulieG!
