My Employees

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

I had some help today.

My nieces have been dying to come work at LOTL for the past month, and today was the big day. We decided that they needed some sort of uniform so people could tell that they were employees, not just kids running amok in the store. Their homemade glitzed-out aprons conveyed their employee status with flair:

They were eager to help out with every task, but they had a few favorites.

Using the cash register:

Unpacking new goodies:

And labeling stuff with the price gun:

They were great little workers.

Ladies, you’re hired.

New Favorite

The pyramid is still intriguing my canine shoppers, but the hollow ball is trumping it lately:

The cool thing about the ball is that it’s chase-able …

But it’s also chill-out-and-chew-able:

It’s remarkably resilient … a lovely pit bull visited on Monday and enjoyed the floor model heartily, but left nary a tooth mark:

The pit bull? She just happens to belong to a local columnist who wrote a wonderful piece about the store. I’m honored!

Why, Hello!

Snapshots from a week of cuteness:

Somebody got a new bed:

Yes, she drank out of the giant bowl:

Penny’s back! She was under the weather for a bit, but she’s all better now. We missed you, little one!

It’s a rainy Tuesday today, and town is deserted. Only one dog in the past two hours. I’m cuteness deprived – wet dogs are welcome, someone come visit me!

Serious Shopping

Corbin gave LOTL his seal of approval:

Like his preppy leash and collar? He got it here!

Toy of the Week

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Each week it seems there’s a new “toy of interest” here at LOTL. Last week it was the cool stuffing-free toys (the fox toys sold out first, followed by the bunnies, then the raccoons, and the skunks came in dead last. I think people have a subliminal dislike of skunk stuff. I happen to think they’re cool!)

Anyway, here’s the winner for this week:

The super-tough treat dispensing pyramid. It’s a great way to keep dogs constructively occupied – you fill it with treats, or just use plain old kibble, and then let Fido bat and nose it all around the house to get the goodies to come out. (Want to make your dog work for his supper? Put the whole meal in the pyramid!)

The dogs of D’town have been all over it for the past few days … and one special visitor had a blast with it as well:

Willow and her person, Penelope Brown, dog trainer extraordinaire and my dear friend, made the trip up from DC to see me! Willow stayed busy with the toy while Pen and I caught up:

It wore her out:

My new friends Ray (l) and Dotte stopped in today and picked up a blue pyramid for Ray’s second Birthday.

Happy Birthday, big guy – enjoy it, and don’t forget to share!

And Another Thing...
