Let’s Play

Seamus the year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi is a toy fanatic:

Anything I took out of my bag was fair game. Sumner’s blue ball? Yup. The hedgehog? The cupcake? The donut? The Flat Cat? Yes, yes, yes and yes please.

He even gave the boring antler a go:

(It was only for about 2 minutes and I couldn’t get a decent shot!)

I love working with dogs equally driven by both treats and play, because that flexibility affords a stunning variety of reinforcement options. A polite “stay” can be rewarded with a quick game of tug, or a speedy recall can be rewarded with some fetch.

Seamus, my friend, we’re going to have some fun.

I haven’t seen a Pembroke with such a long coat and ear fringe before. I like it

We are so happy that Seamus is now famous! We do love our fluffy Corgi. A breeder’s “fault” is a family’s joy.

I hear ya! I have a fluffy German Shepherd myself (Athena–she’s in the picture section “And another thing…” on this blog. She’s the one with the Burger King hat).

Her coat is a “fault” too according to the breeders. [:( no it’s not!!!!

Athena is gorgeous! She looks like a Wookie in some ways…which is, of course, all good according to my Star Wars fanatic son. There’s just nothing like hugging a fluffy dog…

hahaha!!! A Wookie! You’re right-she does! I never noticed, and I’m a total Star Wars fanatic too.
