Vanquish the Enemy

Though Sum is a Nervous Nellie, loud electronics don’t faze him.

The blender? Whatever.

Chainsaw? Bo-ring.

Vacuum? Yawn.

But the leaf blower?

Stop the presses, the leaf blower must die.

He hates it, even when it’s turned off.

We let him rest inside while we finished up the yard on Saturday, letting him think that he’d killed the beast for good.

My dog does the same thing but with the vacuum. It must be like fighting out in the wild or something. Too funny.

Oh, Sum! Too Funny:) I can’t even get my dogs to move out of my way when I try and vacuum near them — wish they were afraid because they hinder my cleaning progress!! And that French Bulldog pup from your post a few days ago (I am catching up!) is beyond adorable!!!!! Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone:)

Whoa. You may have a Schutzhund dog there–well, as long as the “bad guy” wears a leaf blower instead of the padded sleeve. SUM! PACHEN!

On a completely unrelated note,

Athena:

1) Chased her very first herd of deer on a 3-hour hike (her look was priceless–it was all “What the f… OMG OMG OMG must.get.THOSE.THINGS!!!!!”)

2) Spent Saturday night in the hospital, because while mommy was out at dinner, she got into a forbidden cache of Hershey’s Dark chocolate bars and ate every single one, a pound’s worth to be exact. Thank GOD I wasn’t gone long; they gave her an emetic and wrote up in clinical Vet-ese that “Athena [patient] then vomited a large quanitity of brown material, and what appeared to be carrots”. Apparently she also threw up her dinner of beef liver and carrots. Anyway, she has a shaved drumstick leg and is still on a bland diet. :( Poor Boos. She’s usually so good about not getting into something that’s not hers, but like mother like daughter, she can’t resist dark chocolate.

The best part of this post with Sum’s “that thing must die” look on his face was that your “And Another Thing…” picture was… that’s right, Sum all peaceful-like draped on the bed with a blanket covering him. The difference is striking.

I feel exactly the same way about leaf blowers. If I could I would ban them from the world. May I borrow your dog the next time my neighbors get theirs going? After he kills the leaf blower I will just explain apologetically that I can’t control him.

I hear you, Becky … we only use it for a very short time, to get the trapped in stuff. We’re rakers, I swear!
